The Hmong Cultural Center-An International Destination For Scholars

By Mark Pfeifer

In the last week of October 2019, the Hmong Cultural Center Museum and Library hosted several overseas Hmong Studies scholars who were visiting St. Paul to participate in the Hmong Studies Consortium conference at Saint Catherine University.

These scholars included Vong Moua Juu from Laos who has conducted research at Chiang Mai University in Thailand (pictured in the photo courtesy Dr. Mai Na Lee), Urai Yangcheepsutjarit of Chiang Mai University and 6 professors from Yunnan University located in Kunming, China. Each visiting scholar received a museum tour and spent time in the center’s comprehensive Hmong Studies Research Library, which contains the largest collection of Hmong-related PhD dissertations and scholarly journal articles in the United States.
