Hmong College Prep Academy is proud to announce that it will be hosting The Essay Workshop, presented by The Claremont Colleges Admission Team-California. The event is free and open to area high school juniors and seniors interested in learning how to write an effective college entrance essay.

“This is a really big deal,” stated HCPA College and Scholarship Manager Toni Marie O’Daniel. “The Claremont Colleges is a consortium of many of the finest colleges in the United States. Each institution is noted for having some of the strictest entry requirements in the country. Five admission counselors, one each from Pomona College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College and Scripps College, will be on-hand to provide their insights and expertise on how to compose a great college entrance essay…a key tool for getting accepted in one’s college of choice.”

Topics covered during the workshop will include:

  • What to write for your college essay
  • How to get the best “you” across in your essay
  • How to write the “Why College X” essay

HCPA Superintendent Dr. Christianna Hang is also excited that her school is hosting The Claremont College’s Essay Workshop.

“At HCPA, we strive to provide our students with the resources necessary to ensure they’re ready to take part in the college enrollment process. An event such as our upcoming college essay writing workshop is yet another example as to how we live our mission. It’s also exciting to know that some of our students will be visiting all five of these great schools next spring during our HCPA California College Tour.”

The Essay Workshop presented by The Claremont Colleges will take place on Monday, August 20 from 9 AM – 11 AM and is open to any junior or senior high school student. Please note: Students MUST register prior to the event by contacting Toni Marie O’Daniel at 651-209-8002 or via email at ToniMarie.O’Daniel@hcpak12.org. In addition, all registered attendees will be required to present a photo ID to gain entrance into the workshop.
