St. Paul, MN: The 2018 Minnesota Grown Directory is now available. The one-thousand-member Directory boasts Minnesota agricultural products and services available directly from farmers and farmers markets.

The Minnesota Grown Directory is filled with places to buy direct from the producer, family-friendly activities, and recipes for your family to enjoy.

Whether you are looking for a farmers market, winery, meat producer, berry farm, garden center, CSA farm, Christmas tree farm, or a specific Minnesota Grown vegetable or fruit – we probably have a farmer who grows it and who will sell it to you directly.

The Minnesota Grown Directory is printed annually (each April), so the information is always current and it’s free!

The Directory is searchable by region, farm name, or product, including locally grown fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy items, wineries, nurseries, Christmas trees, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) operations, and more.

“Minnesota’s farmers offer a diverse range of quality products and the Minnesota Grown Directory is one of the best places to find local growers,” said Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson. “Buying directly from farmers and farmers markets also helps ensure the economic vitality of communities across the state.”

The Minnesota Grown Directory highlights farms and farmers markets from all parts of Minnesota, from International Falls to Worthington, Spring Grove to Lutsen, and hundreds of cities in between.

“The 2018 Minnesota Grown Directory has a new, user-friendly design,” said Minnesota Grown Member Services Coordinator Karen Lanthier. “The Directory is the first place customers go to look for local fresh produce, agritourism locations, or farmers markets, and now that information is easier to find than ever. The online, mobile-friendly versions of the Directory is another a great way to search for farms and farmers markets for customers on the move.”

The brand new Directory features peak season information for a variety of fruits and vegetables, storage tips, and preparation ideas, including recipes from local chefs. Minnesota Cooks – the educational outreach program of Directory sponsor Minnesota Farmers Union – has once again contributed recipes from local chefs and restauranteurs to contribute recipes that celebrate Minnesota’s unique agricultural offerings.

Sen Yai Sen Lek’s Long Bean Salad utilizes a variety of freshly grown produce, while The Bluestem Restaurant offers a Bison Brisket Slider recipe using locally raised bison. Each region of the state has a featured recipe, brought to life by the lush photography of Katie Cannon.
