An Update From The Hmong Cultural Center

By Mark Pfeifer

The current ICE Operations in the Twin Cities including St. Paul are impacting Hmong Cultural Center and our clients. ESL and Citizenship classes are only running online until further notice. No in-person Adult Basic Education classes or class transportation is occurring at this time. Hmong Cultural Center’s offices and our museum on University Avenue in Frogtown are open during normal business hours but our front doors are locked. Please call or ring our front doorbell for entry.

Support For Thi Dua Vang

Thi Dua Vang, a former ESL student at Hmong Cultural Center, was taken by ICE from Saint Paul to Texas in early January before recently being released. Her family and community members are currently raising financial support for her legal fees and other related expenses. Visit her GoFundMe page to learn more.

New iPads Installed In The Hmong Cultural Center Museum

Eight new, next generation iPads have been installed in the Hmong Cultural Center Museum exhibit spaces. These iPads provide interactive content related to Hmong history, art forms and culture to school groups on field trips as well as other visitors. This project was made possible through a partnership with Dr. Andre Kobayashi Deckrow’s Public History Classes at the University of Minnesota with financial support from the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts Engagement Hub.
