Hmong College Prep Academy Athletic Complex Dome Goes Up

Commuters along Snelling Avenue may have noticed a different view as they neared the south end of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. As a major component of Hmong College Prep Academy’s 2017 campus expansion project, workers recently completed placing and inflating a dome to cover the school’s newly installed artificial turf soccer field.

“The inflating of the dome is a really big step for our athletic and physical education programs,” stated Superintendent Dr. Christianna Hang. “HCPA will now be looking to offer a number of additional sports that were previously unavailable due to a lack of athletic facilities. The site will also allow for our physical education classes to offer activities like soccer, flag football and other team related sports that are usually played when the weather is nice.”

The domed field features a 91,000 square foot playing surface. When deflated, the site also has lights for night games. In mid-October, The HCPA Boys’ Soccer team christened the new facility’s grand opening with a 7-0 win over Liberty Classical in first round section play of the Minnesota State High School League Boys’ Soccer State Tournament.

Hmong College Prep Academy is located at 1515 Brewster Street in St. Paul, just southeast of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. For more information or directions, interested parents and students can call 651-209-8002 or online at www.hcpak12.org. The school is currently enrolling students in grades K-12 for the 2017-18 school year. Space is extremely limited.
