Hmong College Prep Academy Hosts Eleventh Senior Graduation Ceremony

By Dave Bonko

Hmong College Prep Academy hosted their eleventh graduation ceremony on Friday, June 9th.

"Graduation is always a special time for the staff, students and families of Hmong College Prep Academy," stated Superintendent Dr. Christianna Hang. "This is truly a wonderful group of seniors who are now ready to move to the next phase in their lives. They're self-motivated, disciplined and goal-oriented, personal characteristics that will serve them well in the future."

Dr. Hang added that HCPA students have been accepted to many of the region's leading colleges and universities including:

• University of Minnesota Twin Cities

• Minnesota State-Mankato

• Drake University

• Bethel University • University of North Dakota

• Gustavus Adolphus College

• College of St. Scholastica

• St. Thomas University

Of HCPA's 2017 senior class, 87% met all of the necessary requirements to receive their diploma. In addition, 86% of graduating seniors were accepted to a college or university. The class of 2017 also set a record with students being awarded over $3.7 million dollars in scholarship and grants, over four years, from the schools to which they were accepted.

Senior School Counselor/C3 Coordinator Cecelia Lee credits this success to the school's College Prep (CP) Program.

"The mindset that our students will be going to college is a part of HCPA's curriculum beginning in Kindergarten. The CP Program provides our students with the resources needed to find a secondary education experience that matches their interests and career goals. It also helps students apply for scholarships and financial aid."

HCPA Announces Top Ten Of 2017

Hmong College Prep Academy also announced their top ten graduates of the Class of 2017.

"It's a great honor to be featured in your school's top ten list," added Dr. Hang. "These students have gone above and beyond in their studies in an effort to get the most out of their high school education. Their hard work has paid off as all will be attending distinguished colleges and universities this fall."
