HMONG VILLAGE SHOPPING CENTER Parking Expansion
Hmong Village, Inc. finally acquired additional land from the City of St. Paul's Parks and Recreation Department to develop 98 additional parking stalls to its existing 364 stalls.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held March 3rd for the Parking Expansion project. Guest speakers included North East Neighborhood Development Center (NENDC), Senator Foung Hawj, Councilmember Dan Bostrom, Mayor Chris Coleman, Commissioner Jim McDonough, Representatives Sheldon Johnson and Tim Mahoney, and Councilmember Dai Thao.

Hmong Village Shopping Center located at 1001 Johnson Park Way is an indoor public market place where Hmong and other minority groups from near and far can come to enjoy ethnic foods, fresh vegetables, and buy merchandises. Since 2010, Hmong Village has offered one-stop-shop, economic boost, meeting space, products and services, and culture and education to local and out of state communities. For six years, our vendors had outgrown beyond our expectations. Each weekend hundreds of Hmong, Laotian, Karen, Somalia, and residents of Eastside St. Paul come to Hmong Village to meet their friends, eat ethnic foods, buy fresh fruits and vegetables and other specialty herbs and merchandises. Additionally, Hmong community and businesses continue to use our community room at Hmong Village for special event and meeting. Although our parking spaces meet the City's plan requirements, parking continues to be our highest priority because our customers demand for additional parking.

"Our plan is to complete construction of the new parking by the end of June 2017 and ready for use during the July 4th biggest Hmong summer event in Minnesota," said Mr. Yong Yia Vang, one of the owners of the Hmong Village Shopping Center.
